Ride – From Work to Home?

0

I had to pick up the 4-Runner from the auto repair place. It was just under 6 miles from work. I rode North and had the wind on West side. It was nice not having the head wind. The average speed was 19.7MPH. I liked it.

Today’s ride was not very eventful, I just rode. My legs are tired, mostly, I believe from being stretched by Clay last night, (an owner of Valley Physical Therapy Group). He as a physical therapist is always concerned about my proper form, and proper balance. My hips are not doing the work and passing some of that work to other parts of my body. My calf injury is mostly likely due to the extra work they preform, so Clay wants me to stretch and do different execise, to help me find the proper balance. With that, he bent me and with the stretches I have been doing during the last week, my knees and hips have soreness from the rotation (stretch) of those parts. It will take a little time to acclimate the joints.

I rode an average of 17.4 MPH, still off from my goal, but I will get there. On the lights being red, require me to slow down (lowering my speed). While, I still run them when safe. My stopped time on my GPS is only one minute, so you guess, I am not “waiting” at red lights. One day, I will get pulled over.

Riding home from work was hard. I am trying to push myself and get my overall speed up. To do so, is causing muscle burn. I like it when it is done, but it is tiring. I did 16.6 MPH average, which is the best to date. Overall it went well and I am pleased. When I got home, I was a sweaty mess. The heat was a little over 100 degrees and my breathing was up, but my heart rate was after the first mile at 140 and was increasing up to 165 beats per minute when finished.

Today’s ride to work, started out cool. I did not expect to have be so chilly. I rode well, but I did not get the time I wanted. When riding into work, I want to ride as a goal for an average of 18 MPH. Today, was 16.7! I blame the red stop signals. Today, I came up to 9 of the 12 lights as red lights. I usually do not stop and wait for a green light, I RUN them, unless, I will get run over. One thing that disturbs me is sitting at red lights when no one is else is around. Coming up to red lights, I do have to slow down and even stop. The slowing down lowers my average.

Today’s ride to work was nice. It was cool but a bit muggy. I rode pretty hard, but I expected my legs to be fresher. I did not ride last week, so they should have been fresher. Overall the average speed was 17.5MPH. I have a goal of 18, so I am getting close. What was nice, I seem not to find to many red lights.

Ride to and from Work

I want to commit to cycling in to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays, this will help offset the gas prices and make me better fit. This Tuesday, I got on the bike and rode in. I tried to ride hard and fast. However, my Garmin 405 battery went dead. It recorded the first two miles and the numbers did not look that good, they were 16.5MPH. I am trying to get to 18 MPH overall for the ride in. Because of the battery dying, I do not have a motionbased data.

The ride home is whole different story, due to heat and wind. The ride home was hard. I did 15.9MPH average, but the wind was up 15-20 MPH and in my face. The wind did not really help on the north facing part of the ride, but I will take it compared to the west facing part of the ride. Being Tuesday, I got off the bike and also went running.

My cycling ride home was hard (due to the 25+ MPH head wind), I just placed my head down and petaled in my low gears. I wish I could show you my GPS data, but this ride and my run that I did later are seen on my GPS as just one event. It even shows me leaving the house and driving to Palmdale for my run. BUMMER!!! Oh well, the ride was not pretty. It is Thursday, and being later in the week I feel more beat up. Hence, my times are slower, so I do not mind not showing how slow of a ride it was coming home from work.

Today’s Ride to Work

This morning the weather was nice and I did get some more sleep last night. My legs are tired. Because I am older, it takes me longer to recover, at least more than a day and half. Anyways, I rode into work, the pace was nice, 17.6 average and a maximum speed of 22.7. I think this my best average today.

I have been trying to ride more, so that includes two days to and from work. I left work around 4:00pm in 94 degree weather and the wind was up around 20MPH, (what’s new). I started out and I was bonked. When I eat lunch earlier, I had a salad and when I got on the bike, there was nothing there. In fact, I was so spent, that when I stopped at a red light, my legs were shaking. I managed to ride at 15.2 MPH, slow huh.

I got home and had an apple, string cheese, followed by two corn dogs. Later, around 9:30 I had finished the rest of the Rocky Road Ice Cream (I am so bad). I guess I will weight heavy today.
