Reading about the new Goal!
0I wondered into Sport’s Chalet and purchased a book on Mt. Whitney, set down and read it from cover to cover. I am interested in the one day hike, and making the hike and not the climb. Folks will climb the face of the mountain. Since I am a little scared of heights, it is best I place one foot in front of the other and walk. This hike will be an all day adventure.
Mt Whitney
0The Adventure to Climb
Mount Whitney
After talking with Danny Rossmango he mentioned that folks at his work are making the trek to the mountain. He mentioned that Jim and Romina Avery and him wanted to make the climb. This is a goal of Romina
New Goal
0A new goal! To climb Mount Whitney. I am 47 years old and overweight and suffering from a mid-life crisis. I do not want to be stupid with my mid-life crisis, so what better then to train to climb the tallest mountain in the lower North America, only Alaska has 16 of them from 20,300 down to 14,500. Mt Whitney is 14,492 feet. It is located a few hours away and is tame as far as mountains go. It is not covered in snow (most of the time) and has an established trail.
Dinner with the Rossmango’s
0We have some really wonderful friend’s and some of the best are the Rossmango’s, Danny and Nicole. It is hard to get time with them, and we finally set a date to get together for dinner. We were to meet at Johnnie Carino’s. We chatted for hours. During the conversations, Danny mentioned the Avery’s (dearest of friends) wanted to hike. The goal of hiking was that Romina had conquered cancer for a second time. The first victory, she wanted to climb Mt. Whitney to celebrate, but life stuff got in the way. Danny mentioned that she and her husband Jim were interested and Danny working for the FAA there was a group from work making the climb in late July. I suffering from mid-life crisis, wanted in. Danny stated, we should break from the FAA group and venture out on our own.
Working it for a few weeks
0I continue to do the work. I am walking and walking. I am walking at least 5-6 times a week. Interesting that Saturday’s have not been good for walking. It seems to be filled with yardwork or shopping, and I try to even get a nap in.
