Rode 27 miles or So on the Aqueduct

Dave Schroeder, Chris Twogood and myself headed the Aqueduct for a ride at around 4:00pm on Sunday. Riding at the Aqueduct is nice and a bit hard. At least we got there in the afternoon, at this time some of the heat of the day was less. On the ride, the wind is the biggest issue. The wind whips up on the hills to make the wind more intense and it can be a tail wind and switch to a strong head wind in a blink of an eye. The overall speed of this ride is not high, mostly because of the wind and having to stop at each cross-street. At those streets which connect the Aqueduct the gates are locked. You have to stop, clip-out and lift your bike over the gate.

It was fun to ride with these guys. Look forward to riding with them soon.

Here is my Garmin Data for this ride

Rode this morning for 21 miles

I recieved a couple of weeks ago a new jersey and shorts. Dan Dunn from work, designed them. They are retro Northrop Grumman. Way cool. So, I was encouraged to get back on the bike. I have rode a little here and there in the last couple of weeks. About riding once a week. I will start up soon riding to and from work at least a couple of time during the work week.

This morning, I got and rode from my house to 110th west and back for a total of 21 miles with an average speed of 16 MPH. The wind was low in the beginning, but picked up. Also, I have using my GPS Garmin Forerunner 305. I usually upload the data to Motionbase. However, Garmin has been updating a new site connect.garmin.com to replace motionbase. Well, they finally moved my data to Connect. This is the first upload from my device to Connect. Check it out here.

50! Today is my Birthday

Today, June 29th, I turned 50. It was a middle-aged-man’s goal to have lost some weight, but the opposite happened. I gained. So, today, I want to recommit by goal to drop from 210 lbs down to 185. May the calories go away.

New Fitness Commitment

Ok, I have been adding weight. I managed to get down to 186 lbs and now I am back up to 203 lbs. I will be turning 50, (yes, the big Five-O),  on June 29th, so have a desire to get my my weight down. I am committing to be back to 16,000 steps a day of walking. Been averaging 10K a day for the last four months.

I have good excuses, but they are excuses, mostly from working 60 hours a week. I need a big goal to aim at, but I do not have a big goal yet. So, I am going to eat better, drink less, and exercise more. Since, it is starting to warm up, I will be cycling (street and mountain), any takers? My knees are sore, so running may be limited.

So, starting April 1, I am recommitting to fitness. It is a good thing.

Portrait of my Hannah

Hannah is not a senior but she loves her picture taken. I set up my equipment in the garage and took a few of her. I had her turn, jump, and sway her hair. It was fun.
