Amazing story, Doug. And an interesting metaphor, if you think about it. How many steps did we have to take to be where we are now? What steps lead us to the career, family life, the place we live in, etc that we are at now? I wouldn't even consider counting the steps I walk on a daily basis, but you did. Keep on truckin'. :)

I enjoy your weather station. I live in Chatsworth and drive to Antelope Valley each day to fly my hawks on jackrabbit. Your data helps me prepare for my trips. Occasionally near Rosmond, I see a bicyclist ride by as I hunt and I wonder if it's you.

If you get "down under", try the Great North Walk - if you're reasonably fit, even middle-aged-men can tackle the 250 km bushwalk.

Congrats Doug, You have reached the other shore!
A while ago you wrote on your blog "I want to share my successes but not when I am not wanting to do the workouts. I been working a lot and the last thing I want do is workout."

You cannot keep running at your peak (limit) with these 5K timed runs if 1. Your heart is not in it 2. You are not training for running.

Getting injured represents playing in the street. Your walking represents playing in the backyard. You have to start playing in the front yard (running/walking) more often to know how close you are getting to the street and avoid being run over by a car.
