24 Mile Ride

Today was one of those days when the air was still and it was warmer than usual. It was about 62 degrees and sunny.

I got out on the road with the bike and went 24 miles. It was really nice. The average speed was about 17.7 mph. My rear is a little sore, because I have not spent much time in the saddle. I need to ride more; I am hoping to ride in the Palm Springs Century on February 9th. The pedaling is fine, but it is the sitting on the seat for that long.

12th Day of Fitness (ride)

This is the 12th day of fitness or the last one of the series.

I rode with the guys from church, Dave Schroeder, David Jackson, Dan Mullins, Chris Twogood, and Nathan Macy. It was a cold and windy day. I dressed in four layers last one being a wind breaker, with two pairs of gloves. I used my head cover under my helmet and long riding pants. It was a fun ride and we made plenty of stops. We rode 13.68 miles. The last mile returning to the car was on Bouquet Canyon, which was uphill and one of the strongest headwinds (my guess 40 mph). It took us 4:15 minutes or so. At different times all of us had to wait for someone. As I mentioned it was a fun ride. According to Motionbased, I burned 1,170 calories (I hope that is true).

11th Day of Fitness (walk/ride)

Today being New’s Year Eve, I did not have the time to focus on activities. So today was a three mile walk with the dog and then later in the evening I got in an half hour ride on the bike trainer. Not much, but I plan to make up for it tomorrow with a mountain bike ride with the high school boys from church.

Nineth Day of Fitness (bike)

It is still cool and I need to do some fitness for the Nineth Day of Fitness. I decided to do the bike on the trainer. I got on the bike and rode for an hour. It can get pretty boring, so this day I watched the movie, Ratrace. It is one of my favorites, mostly because it was filmed around my neighborhood.

Sixth Day of Fitness (bike)

The day after Christmas and the weather is cold again and also really windy. There is so much dust in the air. It looks like smoke of a fire. I wanted to get out on the street and cycle, but my joints are sore from yesterday’s run. I manage to ride the bike trainer for an hour.

Fourth Day of Fitness (bike)

Being Christmas Eve and a bit of a busy day. I walked with Teri for three miles in the afternon. I wanted to get out on the street and cycle. The wind was really up, so I did not venture out. I had to take pictures at church, so when I got him we had a small celebration and after that settled down, I excused myself to ride the bike trainer. I did an hour.

Second Day of Fitness (Bike Ride)

Day 2 of the 12 Days of Fitness.

I managed to get on the bike today, I have not been on the road in the last three weeks. It felt good for the first 300 yards, then became work. I rode about 22 miles, the path was that I left the house and worked my way to Avenue H and rode up to 110th street and returned back the same way. To sum it up, it was cold. I wore my long sleeve jersey, but that did not help. The aveage was 17.3 MPH, not bad. I think I just wanted to get back to the house and warm up. I was very winded at the end.

Teri and I also got out and walked the dog for three miles.
