Today’s ride to work was nice. It was cool but a bit muggy. I rode pretty hard, but I expected my legs to be fresher. I did not ride last week, so they should have been fresher. Overall the average speed was 17.5MPH. I have a goal of 18, so I am getting close. What was nice, I seem not to find to many red lights.

Ride to and from Work

I want to commit to cycling in to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays, this will help offset the gas prices and make me better fit. This Tuesday, I got on the bike and rode in. I tried to ride hard and fast. However, my Garmin 405 battery went dead. It recorded the first two miles and the numbers did not look that good, they were 16.5MPH. I am trying to get to 18 MPH overall for the ride in. Because of the battery dying, I do not have a motionbased data.

The ride home is whole different story, due to heat and wind. The ride home was hard. I did 15.9MPH average, but the wind was up 15-20 MPH and in my face. The wind did not really help on the north facing part of the ride, but I will take it compared to the west facing part of the ride. Being Tuesday, I got off the bike and also went running.

My cycling ride home was hard (due to the 25+ MPH head wind), I just placed my head down and petaled in my low gears. I wish I could show you my GPS data, but this ride and my run that I did later are seen on my GPS as just one event. It even shows me leaving the house and driving to Palmdale for my run. BUMMER!!! Oh well, the ride was not pretty. It is Thursday, and being later in the week I feel more beat up. Hence, my times are slower, so I do not mind not showing how slow of a ride it was coming home from work.

Today’s Ride to Work

This morning the weather was nice and I did get some more sleep last night. My legs are tired. Because I am older, it takes me longer to recover, at least more than a day and half. Anyways, I rode into work, the pace was nice, 17.6 average and a maximum speed of 22.7. I think this my best average today.

I have been trying to ride more, so that includes two days to and from work. I left work around 4:00pm in 94 degree weather and the wind was up around 20MPH, (what’s new). I started out and I was bonked. When I eat lunch earlier, I had a salad and when I got on the bike, there was nothing there. In fact, I was so spent, that when I stopped at a red light, my legs were shaking. I managed to ride at 15.2 MPH, slow huh.

I got home and had an apple, string cheese, followed by two corn dogs. Later, around 9:30 I had finished the rest of the Rocky Road Ice Cream (I am so bad). I guess I will weight heavy today.

I have been settling on riding to work on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This morning ride was hard. First off, I forgot my wallet, second, when I was adding air to my tire, I tore off the valve stem. Argh… I carry a spare tube and had to repair the flat.

I got on the bike and my legs were dead, really dead. They did not recover from the walk/run and swim from yesterday. Oh well, I hope they recover before I go home.

The pace was better then I thought it was going to be. Since my legs were tired, I used lower gears and thought I was going really slow. I managed to do 16.5 MPH for the ride, I was surprised by that. here is my results from the ride.

Ride in the Desert

Today I got an did another 22 miles in the desert! It was hot but not killer. It was only 94 degrees and 30% humidity. It did rain a little last night. The winds were strong, I had to push west in 25 mph head winds, but loved it when I returned. Overall it was not a good day for ride and my numbers show it. I did an average of 15.4 MPH.

I took a photo at the half way point at “G” and 110th. I placed it on my tumblr account.

here is the motionbased data.

Ride from Work

I want to ride at least two days a week to work. This will help me get fit and save on gas. I picked Tuesdays and Thursdays to ride. I rode today to and from work. It was definitely easier than Tuesday’s ride. It was only a 100 degrees instead of 110 and the wind was blowing north, which helped. The wind seem to be in my face when traveling west, but that seems to be normal for going home.

Average speed was 16.4 mph and it took me 37:44 of moving time and total time of 41:53. The difference was sitting at red lights.

Rode to Work

For the second time this week I rode my bike to work. It was a bit slower than Tuesday’s ride. I rode at 15.5 MPH (Tuesday was 16.5 MPH), this may be due to sitting at red lights or being lazy, I am not sure!

It was a kinda of boring, but I enjoyed it. I took the same path as Tuesday, but I did leave the house for a block when I realized that I forgot my water. I looped back and picked it up. That added a little longer distance.
