Weight
0I am still wanting to lose weight but have not been that disciplined. Since the goal of reaching 200 lbs, I have managed to lose only 2 more pounds in two weeks. I managed to get the scale to weight me in at 198 lbs this week. I have switched scales. I was using a medical scale, but at work there is the digital scale at work (whole pounds only) that is for legal tender. I believe it is very accurate.
22 Miles of Walking
0This morning I set out at 5:00am and starting walking. I walked for 22 miles. this is the longest I have ever walked. I picked it, because it is the distance of the hike of Mt Whitney.
Mt Whitney (test runs, local work)
0Talking to my friend Danny Rossmango he has picked up the permits to climb Mt. Whitney for our hike on September 20th. That is about five weeks away.
Wellness Challenge – 37 miles for the week
0This week’s challenge I managed to walk only 37 miles. It includes the 14 miles (12.8 + elevation gain) hiking Mt Antonio. I did not walk on Sunday (did not have time). I only did one mile on Friday. With the Wellness Challenge I

Wellness Challenge – 38 miles for the week
0This week I had my 30 year High School reunion and I was unable to do any activity on Saturday my biggest mileage day. I was able to get in 38 miles of walking for the Wellness Challenge during the rest of the week. I did not hike or bike, so this is a lot of miles walking around town. On Thursday alone, I did 10.5 miles (trying to hit my weight target), I am encouraged by reaching my weight target and looking forward to the next. It is only about four pounds away.
First Goal Obtained! – Under 200 lbs!
0My first resolution (goal) was to be under 200lbs. Remember, I started at 230.
Back in late March, I received an email about my upcoming 30 year High School reunion for July. I set a goal (April 2nd) to be under 200lbs for the reunion. As of today, I weigh 199.5lb the actual day of the reunion. I have lost 30lbs or 13.26% in 112 days (16 weeks).

Wellness Challenge – 48 miles for the week
0I mentioned in an earlier post that my work is having Wellness Challenge. It is a 50 miles in 10 weeks to qualify for a patch. The top ten milers from each team are summed up and the team with the most miles in 10 weeks wins. Last week I was part of the top ten (coming in at 7th place) with 32 miles and our team was ahead. The miles are walking/hiking/biking (3/1) and other forms of walking, like treadmill and elliptical trainer. I did 51 miles on the bike on Saturday which counts as 17 (each bike mile is 1/3 a walking mile) and 31 normal walking miles during the week.
Bike Ride – 51 miles
0For the Wellness competition at work every third bike mile counts as one walk mile. I decided to get up early (leaving the house at 5:30am) to ride up to Willow’s Springs area (90th) and continue up to Backus Road in Mojave. Ride over to Sierra Highway and back down to home. Over all it was close to 51 miles. For the competition that would count as 17 miles.
Softball
0We have a sponsor for our slow pitch softball team. The AV Internet Cafe. They must have never seen us play. We have lost our third straight game. This time the score was 13 to 7 (best that I remember). I had three at bats and two hits. I did pull a thigh muscle, just a bit. It is talking to me, but it does not seem that bad.
Before the game, I looked over on another field to see this guy that looked alot like Jim Avery. It was and Danny Rossmango too. They were playing in a church league for Central Christian Church, my old church. Danny is the one who mentioned climbing Mt. Whitney to me.
