Photo in the AV Press
0It was a real blessing to see one of my photos in the AV Press, my local newspaper. The picture ran on Sunday March 15th on page D2. I was in Florida at the time, and was told about it from a friend Rhonda know happen to see my name mentioned.

New Fitness Commitment
0Ok, I have been adding weight. I managed to get down to 186 lbs and now I am back up to 203 lbs. I will be turning 50, (yes, the big Five-O), on June 29th, so have a desire to get my my weight down. I am committing to be back to 16,000 steps a day of walking. Been averaging 10K a day for the last four months.
I have good excuses, but they are excuses, mostly from working 60 hours a week. I need a big goal to aim at, but I do not have a big goal yet. So, I am going to eat better, drink less, and exercise more. Since, it is starting to warm up, I will be cycling (street and mountain), any takers? My knees are sore, so running may be limited.
So, starting April 1, I am recommitting to fitness. It is a good thing.
Blood Pressure
0Today is blood pressure Thursday. I chart my pressure. It is a good reading, but not as good as last week.
No Softball
0Due to raining in California, (rare I know), softball was cancelled. With the rain, I did not run either. Oh well…
Bike Trainer
0One thing is it is getting colder in the desert and I wanted to ride more then one day a week. So, I purchased a Kurt Kinetic Road Machine Fluid Trainer. It is quite and allows me to ride with resistance. It is new, but is not this year’s model. The new models are a lime green.
27 Mile Ride
0Today, I wanted to ride harder but not long. I started from the house out to 110th and over to Avenue K and end up at Starbucks. My goal was to raise my MPH from about 14-15.5 to over 17. I managed to do 17.4 MPH. I did 27 miles and there was no wind. The best part was sitting at Starbucks with a cup of coffee and a blue-berry muffin. I just added Garmin’s speed and cadence sensor, and I am trying to see how it blends in with the results on Motionbased. Also, I got a new jersey (I need one with pockets). This one is about beer (ale), if you know me, this is me.
22 Mile Hike (loop)
0This Saturday, August 25th the planned hike is South Fork (SF) Camp to Vincent Gap (Angeles Crest Highway), up to Baden-Powell, then over to Islip Saddle back down to South Fork. This is almost 22 miles of hiking see the image below. The plan is leave Lancaster at 5:00 am.
Weight 27 down
0I have been pretty plateaued on my weight. I find I hold on to fluids. I did a long hike this Saturday and six miles of walking on Sunday to weight in 2 pounds heavier then last week. I weighed again on Tuesday to be about the same, a small lose. I got mad and really eat close to nothing (for me). Only had Oatmeal and then Salad for lunch. For dinner, I had four small left overs (Chinese chicken). Today, I got on the scale and lost 5 pounds from the scale since Monday. That is not five pounds of fat but fluid retention. I find I hold on to fluids after strenuous activities. So, I weighed in at 203. I have a goal of reaching 200 before my thirty year high school reunion, which is only 10 day away.
